I normally do not provide a back story about the displayed photos, but I think this one calls for it.
Riccardo was recalling making wine in the basement of his Brooklyn home when he was 8 years old with his dad.

“We used to make 200 gallons a year. Some people would take a loaf of bread to someones house when they would go there. We took a gallon of wine”

“My dad knew I was a true Italian when I was three. The suppliers had a hard time getting wine because of the war. So they diluted it with water. My dad gave me a glass and I went to poured it down the sink. He knew at that very moment…. I was three”

  1. Rob, this may be just the dementia talking, but I find your pictures inspiring. You have a great eye (probably two of them) and a notable technique.
    Who know when you were struggling valiantly (yes: struggling – and perhaps not so valiantly) as my student in German class, that you would mature into this consummate photographer? Not I.
